Erg Chebbi is the best-known dune field in Morocco: a ridge of orange sand about 22 km long and 5 km wide, with dunes up to roughly 150 m high, rising straight out of the stony plain next to Merzouga. Camps stand in the hollows between the dunes, from simple tents to luxury tents.

Our 3 trips here are planned from October to April.
March to May and September to November are the most pleasant months. Winter nights are cold and summer days are very hot.
Merzouga is about 550 km from Marrakech, a drive of 8 to 9 hours, and roughly 340 km from Fes. Most travellers break the journey with a night in the Dades or Todra valleys, or take a private tour that includes it.
The classic visit is a camel ride at sunset, a night in a Berber camp and a ride back at sunrise. You can also come on a 4-day private tour from Fes, or as part of a 5-day tour from Marrakech that also visits Erg Chigaga.
Erg Chebbi has taller, more photographed dunes and is easier to reach from the north, with a wide choice of camps. Erg Chigaga is wilder, bigger and quieter, but further away and reached by piste. The 5-day tour from Marrakech visits both.
Our trips that visit Erg Chebbi last from 2 to 5 days. The shortest is Erg Chebbi Camel Trek from Merzouga: Sunset Ride or Overnight Camp, starting in Merzouga.
Our trips visiting Erg Chebbi start from €65 per person (Erg Chebbi Camel Trek from Merzouga: Sunset Ride or Overnight Camp). Each trip page shows its prices per group size.
