About these trips
Ouarzazate sits between the High Atlas and the Draa Valley, which makes it a good base for day trips. In a day you can reach the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, the gorges of the Dades and the Todra, the palm groves of Skoura and the Draa Valley, or even the first dunes near Zagora. Each excursion is built around a few stops and a relaxed pace, with time to walk, take photos and drink tea. Trips are arranged privately and can be adjusted to your interests; if you want to sleep in the desert, a day trip can be extended into an overnight tour.
The six day trips: Ait Ben Haddou and the Atlas film studios; the Dades Valley and its gorges; the Draa Valley as far as Agdz; the Todra Gorge and the Tinghir oasis; the Skoura palm grove and Kasbah Amridil; and Zagora with the pottery workshops of Tamegroute, the longest at about 165 km each way and ten to eleven hours in all. Each one leaves from your hotel in Ouarzazate and is private, so the start time and the pace follow your group. Prices are sent on request: tell us your date and the number of travellers. Spring and autumn are the best seasons; summer afternoons in the valleys are very hot and winter mornings in the gorges are cold.
