4x4 desert tours in Morocco

Our 4x4 desert tours pair long, scenic drives with a camel ride and a night in camp at the edge of the dunes. A driver-guide takes you over the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass, past the kasbahs of Ait Ben Haddou and Telouet and down the Draa Valley, then off the tarmac to the dunes of Erg Chigaga or Erg Chebbi. The tours run privately from Marrakech or Fes, from two to five days, so you set the pace and can add nights. Roads are long, so expect several hours in the vehicle each day; in return you see a wide slice of southern Morocco.

Which tour for how many days? In two days the tour reaches the dunes near Zagora and returns to Marrakech, the shortest night in the desert we offer from the city. Three days take you to Erg Chigaga through the Draa Valley, from €250 per person in a group of six. With five days you can add the Skoura palm grove and the Dades Gorge with two nights in a comfortable camp (from €400 per person), loop back through the Anti-Atlas and Taroudant, or link Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga in one trip. From Fes, the four-day tour crosses the Middle Atlas to Erg Chebbi, with two nights in a luxury camp, and ends in Marrakech (from €515 per person).
